Grounds Report

Thanks to those who braved the rain for our Term 2 Working Bee!
We had many families attend our Term 2 working bee which was derailed by some nasty weather. Thanks to those who donned their raincoats and helped shovel sand in the rain!
We have since been working hard to stain the decks. Thanks to those who have helped with this task as well.
Please check the roster for your weekend duty, and ensure you are able to attend. If you are busy when rostered on, it is your responsibility to find another family to swap with.

Grounds Update February 2017

The Grounds team has been very busy over the summer holidays with lots of upgrade works. We hope you and your children enjoy the upgraded kinder room, and facilities for 2018. We have completed:
 – New flooring in the kinder room
 – Painted ceiling in the kinder room
 – New fans
 – New back fence
 – New shade sail over the swings
 – New green tunnel
Every year we direct our fundraising efforts straight back into the kinder. So jump on board all of our upcoming events and fundraisers, so we can continue to make Elonera a wonderful space for our children’s play based learning.
Grounds Duty
Throughout the year you will be rostered onto Grounds duty unless you have opted out. The roster has been emailed to you. Please ensure you check your date, and make an alternative arrangement with another family if you can’t attend. If you have not opted out of Grounds duty, attendance is required. Many hands make light work, and when all families attend, the grounds can be tidied up in around an hour.
Many thanks in advance for your assistance.

Grounds Wrap Up 2017
Thanks to all who have contributed to our beautiful grounds throughout the year, including those that have attended Grounds Duty, attended working bees, provided sponsorship, and also contributed to our many fundraisers to enable the Grounds renovation.
We have a few more jobs to get done before kinder returns in 2018, and we are looking for potential painters. If you have a great recommendation for a painter, please get in touch with Michelle to advise. 0431 740 326 or groundsandbuildings@elonerapreschool.com.au
Thanks again for your support through 2017

Kinder Revamp
At the final Committee of Management meeting for 2017, the Elonera Committee voted to undertake some exciting refurbishment projects at kinder over the coming months, ready for 2018.
We would like to thank all families who have contributed to our events and fundraising activities this year, which is what makes reinvesting in the kinder possible. For families returning in 2018, look out for:
 – New floor coverings in the kinder building
 – Painting the internal ceiling
 – New shade sails to replace those that are in disrepair
 – A new fence along our back boundary at kinder.
This is on top of the Grounds renovation works that have just been completed at our entrance.
Thank you all for your contributions this year to make all these projects possible!
New Entrance
In the September holidays we completed the next phase of our Grounds renovation with the new seating area at our entrance. You will notice the gate has been turned around to ensure our children can’t climb up to open it. When coming through the gate, please ensure you push it closed properly.

Finally we have finished the Harmony Garden Creek Bed!
Again, we’d like to extend a huge thank you to Reece Plumbing Caulfield for donating the hand pump. It’s very popular already, and will bring joy to our children for many years to come.
Help us support the families that support us – for all your plumbing equipment, get in touch with Adrian Orchard  at Reece Caulfield on 9528 4933 or  adrian.orchard@reece.com.au
Shade Sail Replacement
We will soon need to replace one of our playground shade sails. We are looking for any recommendations of great shade sail companies to do this work. Please email any recommendations that you may have through to Michelle at groundsandbuildings@elonerapreschool.com.au

Grounds Duty Reminder
Please check your date for Grounds Duty. We realise it is sometimes tricky to make your allocated time, but please check the date, plan ahead, and arrange a swap if you are not able to attend. It puts a lot of pressure on the remaining families who do attend,  when families to not attend without a replacement.

Mosaic Project
We are almost ready to commence our mosaic art project. Don’t forget to vote on the designs in the foyer at kinder. We will be working with all classes to form the mosaic piece, and look forward to seeing it come to life.
Thanks for your support,
Grounds Team (Michelle and Ines)

Grounds Update

Grounds Report May

Our fabulous new hand pump is up and running! A huge thanks goes out to Reece Plumbing Caulfield for their generous donation! We still have a bit of finishing works to complete, but it’s great to see the children enjoying the pump.

Through winter, Grounds Duty can be a little uninspiring, but please ensure you record your date and turn up. Many hands make light work!

Mosaic Preparation

For the next stage of our renovations in September, we will be working towards creating a large piece of mosaic art to liven up our entrance way. Please start to collect any old, broken or leftover tiles, china or crockery and mirrors – these can all be used to make mosaics, and the more colours and types we have, the better it will be!

We have put a box in the foyer at kinder to collect your donations. We love to teach our children about recycling and reusing – what better project to teach upcycling!

We will be working with the children throughout term 3 to bring this masterpiece together!

Many thanks for your support

Michelle and Ines (Grounds Team 2017)

THANK YOU to all families who came to our extraordinary working bee on Sunday 23 April!

It was a fabulous day and we got a lot done! Garden beds moved, pirate ship painted, harmony garden painted, chalkboard holes dug and chalkboards installed! The harmony garden creek bed was completely cleaned out, and concrete laid, ready for our fabulous new hand pump. All on top of our regular maintenance jobs!

Thank you to all families who attended, many hands really does make light work.

We hope to have the harmony garden finished in the next couple of weeks, so it will be back in use with the new hand pump for our children to play and learn with.

Don’t forget to check your rostered dates for Grounds Duty – when all families attend, it really doesn’t take long at all.
